Meet The Boy Who Is Slowly Turning Into Stone

Ramesh Darji, an 11-year-old boy from Nepal, suffers from a tragic skin condition which is slowly turning him into a statue. When he was born, he seemed like a healthy boy, but just 15 days after his birth, his skin began to peel and was replaced by thick, black scales. The skin disorder is slowly robbing the boy from his ability to walk and even talk.

When Ramesh’s skin condition surfaced, it was a mystery to his mother Nar and father Nanda. It left them helpless, with their only option being to watch their little boy slowly turn into stone.

“His skin started peeling off 15 days after he was born and then new skin began to grow very thick. It hardened and turned black, we had no idea what to do about it. No one helped us,” Nanda says.

Desperate for help, Nar and Nanda took their son to several doctors in the remote Nepalese region of Baglung, all of whom told them it was a fungal infection, and there was nothing they could do.
