Octodad: Dadliest Catch Supports Local Co-op For Up To Four Players
Developer Young Horses confirmed today, Octodad: Dadliest Catch will support local co-op for up four players.
Young Horses stated the coop will work for two to four players, with each controlling one set of limbs. The newly announced mode will be present in Mac, Linux, Windows PC and Playstation 4 versions of Octodad. Players can drop in and out of multi-player from the in-game menu.
Tibitoski who was with Young Horses explained,
“We were talking about doing [co-op] for the longest time, and were trying to figure out whether Dadliest Catch would make players use one or two arms,” Tibitoski explained. “We couldn’t find a good way for one person to control both arms or a good reason for it, so it just kind of came from there. We tried it out and were like, hey, why not?
“The point of the game is obviously to master those controls, but I don’t think they’re necessarily difficult once you get past the first tutorial portion,” he added. “People think it’s difficult, but they will surprise themselves.”
The co-op mode will only be available local and not on-line. Although Young did say they had considered 8 player online co-op, it will not be making an appearance.
The new mode will be available tomorrow.
