FASHION FRIDAYS: The Hits and Misses at the Oscars and Brit Awards

It was a fashion bonanza this week with The Academy Awards on Monday (and the After Parties) and the Brit Awards on Wednesday. Despite it being the biggest week on The Red Carpet, with many taking months to prepare there, were still so many who were caught off guard.

This was by far our most fav look of the evening. Rosamund Pike looks drop dead gorgeous in this custom made red gown. We love how this nips her in, in the waist and how she’s let the dress speak for itself without any accessories or elaborate hair and make up.

Rita Ora looks almost regal in this beautifully dramatic Marchesa gown. The structure shows off the singer’s killer curves. We really wish she’d stuck with this look for the after party (keep scrolling to see what we mean).

The look on Reese Witherspoon’s face says it all “yeah, I look good”. It’s fair to say the actress often wears figure hugging gowns and we would too if we looked like that. The black detailing and off the shoulder just make it that bit different.

This is the best Gwyneth Paltrow has looked in a long time. The light pink is a beautiful color on her and the big rose makes the gown interesting without being too much.

We don’t even know where to start with Queen Bey’s lil sister’s look. There is just. So. Much. Fabric. And it’s a tacky sheeny red. Solange looks like she is slowly being swallowed up by the monstrosity.

Jennifer Hudson looks as elegant as ever in this black velvet gown. We love the plum lipstick and matching nails; the singer looks ready to party.

Diane Kruger may the only person who is able to pull of this Donna Karan Atelier jumpsuit, but she sure does rock it. We like how the top half says elegance yet the bottom says PARTY!

We told you. We understand if Rita Ora didn’t want to wear her gorgeous navy and gold gown to the after party, it would be a bit restrictive to dance in. But why she decided to show off her ass-ets in this black sheer gown we’re not sure.

Natalie Portman so nearly hit the mark in this dress but it looks like she ordered the wrong size. It’s not just that it doesn’t look like it fits her body but it’s also obviously baggy in the arms.

This racy look is a bit different for Taylor Swift but we like it! The singer doesn’t usually wear black on the red carpet but she owns this Roberto Cavalli Atelier gown. We hope we see more of this sexy side.

Sam Smith looks fierce in this bright blue suit. We like that it’s still very stylish without being too out of the box.

Paloma Faith threw everything at her outfit at come out trumps. We love this black and red tulle gown. It’s a classic style with a modern edge, much like the singer herself.

Cara Delevingne looks like she put what was on her floor and went to the Brit Awards. Even though she looks like she doesn’t care, the undone bow tie and hat have no place on the Red Carpet.

Ellie Goulding looks mad at her own choice here and fair enough. The singer looks like she’s about to head to bed instead of heading out to Britain’s biggest pop music awards.

We almost missed Orlando Bloom on the Brit Award Red Carpet that’s how dull he looked. The double denim is bad enough but those skater shoes are unforgivable.
