Battlefield 3 Grand Bazaar Map on PS3: DICE Has Made Improvements
Patrick Bach from DICE released a commentary run through of the Grand Bazaar map in Rush and a number of other videos have also appeared of the same map which displays a more recent build. The Playstation 3 gameplay is looking very good and clear improvements since the beta are evident. “This is a beta and not representative of the final product” – despite all doubts from players, this statement is very true.
First of all, the visuals seem to have undergone a slight makeover with textures receiving higher details and overall play looks to be smoother. Obvious improvements to lighting and shadows have been made and tress are looking a lot better than what we saw in the beta. DICE stated the beta was a build that was more than a month old and this claim has been reinforced with what appears to be an improved overall game.
DICE has also listened very carefully to player feedback with a number of new features being added which were not present in the beta, including:
- Kit names when switching: When picking up a weapon kit from a downed solider, the name of the kit has been added.
- Heartbeat Monitor: A little heartbeat monitor has been added in right next to your hitpoints
- The Map: The mini-map seems to have been slightly improved in terms of clarity. Many have complained about the clarity of the map with some going as far as calling the map useless.
- “Enemy Killed”: Instead of “Enemy Down”, it’s now “Enemy Killed”.
- Point Accumulation Sound: A little sound has been added in whenever you kill an enemy or accumulate points for other activities. (unconfirmed).
- Time to Deploy: the ‘time to deploy’ counter has been moved to the top right hand corner of the screen and the look has been changed (see deployment screenshot below).
- M-Com Stations: A little counter below the M-Com station letter (A, B etc.) has been added which will show how far away you are from the station, in meters.
- Glitches: The glitches seen on the beta have disappeared as DICE stated in their latest blog post.
