We recently reported the huge price drop for the Nintendo 3DS here on EMGN. It has recently been revealed however that anyone who purchased the system before the $80 price cut will take part in the Ambassador Program. Meaning for those of you who paid full price for the Nintendo 3DS, we now refer to you as a 3DS Ambassador! Is this a bad thing? Not at all, what it means is free games for you guys. Not exactly new games, but free downloads of famous classic NES and GBA titles, 10 of each in fact. So how do you take part in the Ambassador Program? Well, if you have already accessed the 3DS eShop before the price drop, your golden.

“Once the paid versions of the games are posted to the Nintendo eShop later in the year, the updated versions will be available to Ambassadors for download at no cost,”

Nintendo hopes to make it up to their loyal fans who purchased the handheld before it received its large pay cut. While I’m sure some would rather just take the extra $80 they spent on the console, getting the free games your going to receive is quite the bargain at that. Ambassador’s will receive 10 NES titles and 10 GBA titles, all 20 games are free for you to download. Nintendo hasn’t given all the specifics away, but has brought some interesting news. Nintendo has only released the names of 5 NES titles and 5 GBA titles, with the other 10 to be released soon. The GBA games are said to be exclusive to Ambassador’s and will not be released to the public, the NES games will be put on the eShop for everyone. NES games are to feature multiplayer, but will remain in 2D graphics.
